Using the KML Upload Utility

The KML upload utility allows users to "mashup" the Open GeoPortal application by loading external data from KML feeds.

The KML files must be accessible via the internet (no local files) and cannot include network links. KMZ files are not currently supported.

You may want to utilize Google My Maps to create and host your KML files or convert KMZ files to KML. More information.

Open GeoPortal is a web-based GIS platform built entirely on Open Source components and technologies, including GeoServer, OpenLayers, and ExtJS.


The Open GeoPortal initiative was conceived to enable county and municipal governments to maintain modern web-based data and mapping portals at a significantly reduced cost to tax payers. The application takes advantage of free and Open Source technology to provide services which are often prohibitively expensive with traditional proprietary software.
